If every dropout made something like this:
This trailer for Salesman Pete, which I saw at Cartoon Brew, is one of the most exciting and visually appealing animated shorts I've seen in a while. French students Anthony Vivien, Marc Bouyer and Max Loubaresse dropped their animation course at the renowned school Supinfocom to work on this project.
The mix between 3D and 2D, the visual interferences, the animation and texture work are just plain brilliant. Some visitors at Cartoon Brew noted that this trailer is heavily influenced by the frenetic chases made famous by Gobelins. While I agree with that, I don't think it diminishes their merits at all.
I can't wait to see the finished piece.
