About

I'm an Animation Professor at LUCA School of Arts, campus C-mine in Genk, Belgium. I teach at the Re:Anima Joint Master in Animation and I'm a senior researcher at the Inter-Actions Research Unit. My research interests include philosophy of Technics, power relations inscribed in and reinforced by technical objects, and decolonial perspectives in animation. Previously, I was an Animation Professor at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), in Brazil. MFA and PhD by the Graduate Program in Arts at EBA/UFMG. I'm also a free software advocate, animator, rigger and I also like to code. You can see some of my works and know a bit more about me at:

Yes, I had a blog. Haven't updated it since 2011. Anyway, if you need something from there I have kept backwards compatibility and you can read it below.

2010-Aug-03: Bishop 2.0

The Bishop rig, one of the trademarks of Animation Mentor, received a HUGE update on its features. Now it's fully customizable:

This amount of freedom reminds me of the great Blendr rig called psl-Man MultiRig, by Daniel Martinez Lara (Pepeland).

Wow, that's incredible! I think every animation community needs a character built on that concept. I see a new trend on the horizon.

Hahahaha! Darn, that was awesome! At first look, I did remembel psl multirig by Pepeland.

"because one size does not fit all"

It's not allowed to be used outside AnimMentor right? So it's not for free public use?

@kernond Yeah... I think you're right! I'm making (for a long time) a new version of my Otto character. I'm trying some ideas on it and one of them is to offer a few customization options. It isn't supposed to be SO flexible like this one, though.

@reyn Unfortunately this rig is only for AM students. I remember seeing they (very politely) asking to people not to even copy their rigs because they need to assure only animations under their quality standards are made with those rigs.
